My hubby is finally home; safe and sound. When I started this blog, a friend asked, “so what are you going to blog about, the war?” I thought to myself, now why would I want to do that? Then again, I get why she would ask such a question, since I’m literally married to the war. It has consumed almost every aspect of my life. Although, I already knew I wanted to blog about my passion(design), I couldn’t even fathom allowing the war to take away that mental creative space that I successfully managed to keep free of its grips. In fact, it is that space that keeps my mind from wandering too often to unhappy and grim thoughts. I also keep it very busy(as is evident from my blog). <br /><div align="center"> It has been almost a year later, and baby Z will finally get to hug his Daddy and bite him instead of me<img alt="Smile" class="wlEmoticon wlEmoticon-smile" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/_jj8N_UQrbmM/TMZJNtBd9CI/AAAAAAAABdQ/2L-LT8_1d9o/wlEmoticon-smile%5B2%5D.png?imgmax=800" style="border-bottom-style: none; border-left-style: none; border-right-style: none; border-top-style: none;" />. I am looking forward to so many things, but I’ll be very content to just be able to  touch his face. Touching his face is something I enjoy.  It is actually an act I’ve come to treasure because he almost lost an eye on one of  his prior deployments when the vehicle he was in hit an IED. Shrapnel from the wreckage injured one of his eyes and that was a harrowing nightmare that I will never forget. His eye is healed now, but the <b>purple heart</b> that is framed in our home serves as a constant reminder…</div><div align="center"> This is a celebratory post, so I will not dwell on unpleasant memories. Thank you all for your support of my humble blog and your comments on my mad rantings about interior spaces. Also, to the lovely ladies who sent me personal emails to check up on baby Z and me or to find out how the hubby was doing-I truly felt loved and your gestures meant so much.  I just wanted to also add  that you should love like there’s no tomorrow. Life is so fleeting-trust me I know.  I don’t know if I’ll be posting much this week or rearing my little island girl head on your lovely blogs much or at all for the rest of this week. Fashion to Home: Anne Hathaway style.

I hope that everyone accomplished some type of relaxation this weekend. I feel the weekend ended very quickly though, how about you? It could be due to the fact that it’s getting darker earlier… Anyway, I told myself that I would stay away from the computer all weekend. However, that effort was short-lived.  Nonetheless, it is because of this short-lived effort that I was able to stumble upon the inspiration for today’s post. Just relax!

I know my mind is always active trying to brainstorm/find solutions for this problem or that problem. Most times these problems don’t even belong to me! I think I would be a skinny thing if the rate at which your mind worked led to weight loss<img alt="Smile" class="wlEmoticon wlEmoticon-smile" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_jj8N_UQrbmM/TMGSaAnzQrI/AAAAAAAABcE/bnDVcShM98s/wlEmoticon-smile%5B2%5D.png?imgmax=800" style="border-bottom-style: none; border-left-style: none; border-right-style: none; border-top-style: none;" />. I’m not going to get all Dr. Phil on you or anything, i'm just saying take it easy and just relax. A wise man, aka my hubby always told me “If you can’t control it, don’t worry about it.” Easier said than done, especially with the lifestyle I lead being married to him! Courtyard House in the South of France.

The hardware that is being used to affix them to the walls somehow look like eyes to me too( adding to the cool factor). I also love the red. The blue chair totally pops too and layering the blue rug over the sisal is brilliant! This is a great example of the use of primary colours to enliven a space tastefully. Fall Travel inspiration: The Lake Placid Lodge

I hope everyone had a great weekend. All weekend, i’ve been daydreaming about visiting this rustic gem aka The Lake Placid Lodge. It  is located in the Tri-Lakes region of the Adirondack mountains in upstate New York.  I would love to rendezvous there for a week or so when dearest hubby returns home. I really cannot think of the perfect adjectives to describe it. All i know is it’s been beckoning to me since the first time i read about it <a href="http://www.kiwicollection.com/">here</a>. It has breathtaking mountain and lake vistas, a fireplace in every room or cabin, and a decor that exudes romance, elegance and does so in a sexy rustic kind of way:-) Lake Placid was also built by hand in the Arts and Crafts tradition and blends seamlessly with its lakeside setting.
